The Wii and a Good Book

i like to have alone time. david likes to always have someone around. this is our compromise...
i love being able to enjoy being together without having to be all up in each other's faces...it's moments like this i love marriage. just being yourself. laughing at stupid things. genuinely enjoying each other's company without all the fluff of trying to impress each other. anyway, just a random thought. i love david. that's all.

Glory Baby

glory baby you slipped away as fast as we could say baby…baby..
you were growing, what happened dear?
you disappeared on us baby…baby..
heaven will hold you before we do
heaven will keep you safe until we’re home with you…
until we’re home with you…

miss you everyday
miss you in every way
but we know there’s a
day when we will hold you
we will hold you
you’ll kiss our tears away
when we’re home to stay
can’t wait for the day when we will see you
we will see you
but baby let sweet Jesus hold you
‘till mom and dad can hold you…
you’ll just have heaven before we do
you’ll just have heaven before we do

sweet little babies, it’s hard to
understand it ‘cause we’re hurting
we are hurting
but there is healing
and we know we’re stronger people through the growing
and in knowing-
that all things work together for our good
and God works His purposes just like He said He would…
just like He said He would…

i can’t imagine heaven’s lullabies
and what they must sound like
but I will rest in knowing, heaven is your home
and it’s all you’ll ever know…all you’ll ever know…

for sweet baby wilson we didn't get to meet...

Conversation Transcript

every now and then, i am reminded of how much i love david and the times that we just make each other laugh - most of the time over nothing. last night we were having a "nothing" fight. we weren't even mad, but this is the random conversation as david leaves the room to go to the bathroom...(there is a very high probability that this will not be funny written out but oh well)

me: "it sounds like you are peeing on the floor."
david: "maybe i am...maybe i just want you to have to clean it up."
me: "no thanks. i already did that once today." (at pre-school)
david: (as he picks out a new music dvd to take to work) "what do i want to take tomorrow? i feel like i'm going to showing tale...and yes, i just said showing tale."
me: "that sounds like a strip joint."
david: "it is in panama city."
me: "nice...so since you are going to rub my back, you get to pick what we watch...what do you want?"
david: "i like how you slipped it in that i am rubbing your back."
me: "yeah, so what do you want to watch...oooh! they have alf!!!" (hulu.com...check it out.)
david: "do you know what alf stands for?"
me: "alien life form...duh."
david: "do you know what his real name was?"
me: "ooooh....gordon? gordon something?"
david: "gordon what?
me: "i don't know and i know there's no way you know that either."
david: "we actually just talked about it at work...that's how i know."
me: "oh well whatever...ooooh! the facts of life! do you know what famous movie actor started on the facts of life."
david: "mmmm no"
me: "george clooney...and suddenly you're findin' that the facts of life are all about you...ooooh ooooh...i used to love that show. (i continue to look for something to watch, then start singing...) makin' your way in the world today takes everything you got....i think i'm singing punky brewster now."
david: "really? wouldn't you like to get away. sometimes you wanna go..."
me: "where everybody knows your name...damn"
david: "there it is. turn on family guy and let's go to bed."
me: "alright but you still have to rub my back."

This is My Husband's Job

so, not only does my husband get to work for a company that works with awesome people and companies. but every now and then they will do a video for those people. this one in particular is for a competition to win a cruise (which they are actually eligible for...so this could be the winner). the cruise is "high fives on the high seas" - thus all the high fiving. this was filmed at their "company day" at six flags...

I Miss Auburn

yes, i actually just said that. a few months ago, you couldn't have paid me to stay here. and it is kind of a pain to not actually get to live in our new home on the weekends. but the point is, i miss auburn from time to time. i miss the simplicity of it. NOTHING is simple in atlanta. i miss simple.

here are some of the specific things i miss:
- i miss traffic being trying to get to the chick-fil-a on magnolia during a class change.
- i miss encounter.
- i miss waffle house after encounter.
- i miss a place being "too far away" meaning it took more than 5 minutes to drive there.
- i miss being able to walk anywhere and not worry for your life.
- i miss band rehearsals (although i am listening to one right now)
- i miss hanging out downtown...reading, writing, talking, whatever...
- i miss season tickets and the student section.
- i miss hanging out at the blounts' house
- i miss the bond you have with people when you all know that that's your home.

there is something amazingly unique about auburn. the older i get, i know it can't stay the same. i would be miserable if i still lived here. everyone gets younger. but still it was an amazing 6 years and i will continue to miss it nonetheless. who knows, maybe if our house doesn't sell, we can come back whenever we want.

Life Lately

things have been kind of crazy lately for the ytterbergs. so this is for any of you out there who have just been wondering what we are up to.

we moved to atlanta (well, david moved here in june and i did in august). we have just recently moved into our own apartment. for two weeks we lived in lawrenceville and then for a while we slept on the floor of our dear friends' (brant and trey) apartment. we are very thankful to them for that time. and i think we are still going through withdrawals of not seeing them every day. my favorite part of the day was when trey and brant would be going to bed at night and just stand at their doors for about 30 more minutes because no one wanted to actually go to bed. those were good times. but needless to say our life has gone from this:
to this:

(we still aren't completely set up yet and i would normally never post a picture that included a rubber tub as a nightstand but this is an update so whatev...also note the half wall. on the other side of that is the den and that's about all she wrote).

we are also still waiting for our house in auburn to sell, so keep praying on that one...

let's see...my sister is preggers. that's right. i will be an aunt again. don't bother asking if its a boy or a girl, because they aren't finding out.

i teach pre-school these days. a spend a lot of time with a lot of 2 year olds and i love it. aside from the whole potty training thing, it's absolutely so much fun.

i don't really know if there is anything else of major importance to put up here, but if you have any questions just let me know. i think i will end this post with a top 8, bottom 4 of atlanta. it's about time i do another one of these...

top 8:
1. brickstore
2. how i met your mother marathons with brant and trey
3. i can lay on my bed and talk to david in the den and we are still in the same room
4. i get off work at 4:30, thus missing atlanta traffic
5. david still gets to ride his scooter to work
6. not having fleas anymore
7. listening to 2 year old's conversations during lunchtime
8. being able to walk to brant and trey's apartment

bottom 4:
1. atlanta isn't chicago
2. having fleas for a week and a half
3. driving somewhere for 7 weekends in a row during a gas shortage
4. friday night lights only airing on directv (ok, i know that doesn't really have to do with atlanta, but it is still a bottom 4)

Hanson

so last night we went to a hanson concert. that's right, i said it. hanson. it was actually pretty good (had i not been overwhelmingly tired). we had a good time. you see, the company david works for, matchstic, has been working on their forthcoming book about social justice issues. so as a "thank you" of sorts, they gave us all tickets. so the whole gang headed out of the office to midway in EAV for a great dinner. we had a great time watching nick's daughter lucy dance to bob marley (lucy is famous in east atlanta...seriously. she's like the community child). then we headed on over to variety playhouse. little did i know we would be VIP...whatup? so we work our way through the mentally unstable crowd and find our seats. we then settled into a night of people watching with hanson as excellent background music. seriously, i've never seen anything like the people that were at this concert. it was insane.

so after the concert, we head around back to the tour bus area. i figure this will be a qick slip into some area that we will all meet. no. there are already throngs of girls waiting by the tour buses. (side note: all 3 hansons are married with 6 children among them...they are NOT available). so we meet them all as they become available. zach first, then taylor, and lastly isaac. they were so nice. i can only imagine how difficult it would be to have a conversation with business associates while you have women behind you screaming they love you and they'll do anything for just a picture.

so after a few minutes of the horrendous awkwardness, we head into the crew bus because it is the least populated. and the guys talk some business and go over new ideas for the book while me and rebekah (the freelancer's wife) sit up front and talk to their bass player and a writer for people magazine. we all had a great conversation. at one point, zach walked through and was like "don't you love our crazy wild bus...with all our ladies and booze." unless you consider a bass player in pajamas a lady and water booze, you will understand that he was being sarcastic. they actually take all their wives and children on the road with them...something that being married to a musician, i very much respect.

i'm not quite sure how long we were on the bus but it was a good time. they are real people. it was the getting off the bus that was most humorous. we stepped off and their was an audible sigh across the crowd as they realized we weren't not a hanson brother, but then after the last of us, taylor gets off the bus and is met with roaring screams. also, while we were still on the bus, the bass player was warming up a hot dog and taylor stopped him and told him to go over to the other bus because there were chili dogs from the varsity. and then they asked our opinion on the varsity and we said it was difinitely something you have to try in atlanta...and then i said (seriously, i did)..."its great! i would just make sure you can flush the toilets on these things..." i don't even know.

but as we got off the bus i told nick that i would rather scale the wall of the building than have to walk back out through that crowd. i was truly afraid one might try to grab me and smell me or something. but all in all, it was a great night. we had great fun. and hanson are great people. so win, win, win right?
